The Rocks are the original birthplace of Sydney-by-the-Harbour.
A place of escape since the first convicts sought solace, a warm breast and a cold beer whilst taking a reprieve from the Hyde Park barracks. Today, you wont find any convicts there but a lot of escapees – cubicle dwellers, stockbrokers, suits, pert and pretty women getting together for a sex & the city type chatfest, and camera clicking tourists looking for the ‘olde Sydney’ .
Cold beers are easier to find than the warm comfort the convicts sought. It’s a very ‘G’ rated experience with art galleries, antique shops, tourist merchandise and cafes, restaurants, upmarket bars and colorful pubs and the MCA – The Museum of Contemporary Art.
